Safari Racks

Does anyone have any experince/ opinions on diferent safari racks? I have a soft top on my 05, and i've read that some of the racks can be a real bear to get off to drop the top. I like the look of the Warrior rack, or the Landrunner ones in particular.

You want one that goes on a frame that you can release from in front of the windshield and fold back. I'd not bother with one for a soft top, instead I'd spend the bucks getting a 1/4 ton army trailer and use that, they come out to about the same price when all is said and done.

Are you saying that there are hidden costs to a rack, or that you can pick up one of those trailers that cheap? I had thought a trailer like that would have been a lot more expensive.

imo i would rather have a rack that folds back on top of the jeep rather than have to drag around a trailer.

x2. I was waiting for some good information, although I have a hard top so folding isn't a big deal. I am more worried about load ratings, storage space, and ease of removal for summer when I switch to a soft top.

Sorry for the bump, I'm just suprized that no one that has one hassn't chimed in.
I haven't been able to find a 1/4 trailer for near the same cost as even the expensive roof racks. seams to be paying the same for one that needs a lot of TLC, maybe i'm not looking in the right places yet.

Trailers are usually more expensive... donno where he got the idea being cheaper.

Racks are nice, give you a bit of extra storage. The only issue I would have with one, is if you over load it, you have a lot of extra weight up top making a roll-over more possible. But if anything, a rack that can be removed for top(soft or hard) would be best. I think most racks I have seen bolt to the tub, which is good.
