Sahara vs Sport

I have a 2003 Sport and my buddy is looking at a Sahara. Problem is we don't know the real differences between them except the seat fabrics. Mine has 4.0, auto and a/c. So does the Sahara he is looking at. Is the difference in the axles, transmission, or what.

Not much is different you could of got a dana 44 axle as an option and it hasenough color matched and slightly wider flares. The sahara was mainly an appearance package

Sahara also had body matched "cladding" or trim just above the running boards. The Sahara was the top of the line package.

Sport - 1997-2006
* 4.0L I-6 engine
* Optional D44 rear axle

Sahara - 1997-2004
* 4.0L I-6 engine
* Body colored fender flares that are 1" wider than standard TJ flares
* Body color rocker sills
* Optional Dana 44 rear axle
* 16" wheels for 2000-2004 models
* 30" tires
* Full steel doors
* Unique seats and interior trim
* Sahara decals

Many things seems to have been options though. My Sahara came standard with 7 Speaker premiuim audio, leather steering wheel, leather seats, tilt and slide option for both front seats, dual tops, etc.

I have the 2002 Sahara and the original owner got the optional D44 rear end for $300 increase on sticker. I am assuming since the option was so cheap it might be more common.

Saharas are plain out girly. lol

I tease, but I am not a fan of a white Sahara with white flares and a white top. my friend has one and holy crap too much white.
I like the contrast of a black top and black flares.

Actually, it's been there since I got the jeep. I took it out for a week and didn't notice a difference. Haven't really checked the numbers for mileage yet.

As the owner of a 1999 White on White Sahara, I completely agree that it is girly. But that is OK as my DD is a white Ford Escape

The white just happened all by accident....from a $ stand point, I can drive almost anything I want, but I am cheap bastard.

lol white is not girly, Saharas in general are. with the palm trees and matching colors. haha jk

white on white is just too white not girly, but with the right amount of black accents and big black tires it can look good.

now the old YJ renegades ugh, now those are girly (i have only seen them stock) lol

Lol

No, they are girly, but since I have one, I can say that.

When I was looking, it has to red or black. White was not even a consideration. But when I saw this one, it had been re painted due to a car wash incident and the top painted to match. The PO has also replaced all the hinges with gunmetal stainless. The OE seats have never been sat in as they have been covered since new with faux leather, so I had to have it.

And that's how I got a girly Jeep.

Golly I'm waiting on a Sahara...and it's unlimited so that's 2 extra doors....the ultimate family car...mine is not white it is black with the 2-toned interior...glad I'm a girl. The alternative....I could be in a mini-van. (before anyone booos me off stage I have to admit ... I used to own a dodge caravan so I paid my dues with the van) Bring on the girly Sahara I say.

You don't want to look like you are driving a mail truck?

In my case, it can look like a mall crawler, because I would never be caught dead at a mall in the first place. Lol

AND, I have never owned a mini van. Suburbans? Yes. But never a mini van. Just girly colored Jeeps. My daughters girl friends think it's cute too.

I soo miss my Mustang sometimes (blower, cams, straight exhaust...)

I had a nice camaro once. Then a scrambler. First "cool" family car was a GC Laredo. Almost bought a suburban but go the mini instead. Had no choice it was a sweet deal. I never drove it like a van anyway. Sounds like you had a nice stang.

The stang was fun. Vert too. Had 410s and sat on 315s.

It was just time to move on. Blew too many motors. The first one on juice, the second one on a fuel pump problem. Pulled the blower off and it just was not as fun.

My girls grew up in that car. Used to pack them in the back seat, top down, car seats in, sunglasses, and bottles in their mouth.

Best thing about a small trunk? My wife couldn't bring a load of needless crap.
