Sailcloth vs regular soft top & super doors?

Either this season or next I will be in the market for a new soft top. I'm not leaking or anything but my windows are really bad from the previous owner. I figured I would stick with Bestop because I have the hardware already. I guess my question is...is the sailcloth really that much better than the oem top? Also on 4wd.com it says that the sailcloth will work with the 2piece super doors. It doesn't say if it will work with the oem top. On q-tecs website it says the superdoors will only work with the super top. Common sense tells me that a door surround is a door surround and the super doors work with everything but maybe I'm wrong. If anyone has any variation of this set up I would appriciate your input thanks. (this would be going on an 04 TJ Sport, Patriot Blue baby!). Also trying to decide if I want to stay with the khaki diamond or go with black. Anyone have any picks with the patriot blue and a black top?

Your 04 has a sailcloth top. The bestop replacement is what you have.

I have the factory top on it now. I've been told that bestop makes them for jeep. But while I've been specing out new tops I've came across the sailcloth version and a version that bestop says is the same as a factory replacement. They claim that the sailcloth is 50% quieter and sell it as an upgrade. If the 04s come with the 4 ply sailcloth top why would bestop even market a less than standard equipment top?

It's an upgrade from the earlier thinner top material.

97-00 - standard material (thinner) denim patter

01-02 - 4-ply sailcloth (Note Some cane with the thinner above material) Saicloth has the diamond pattern

03-06 - 3-ply sailcloth diamond pattern

We do make the factory tops, and they are sailcloth. So we sell replacements for those tops. We also sell a replacement top that uses the very high quality material we use in Supertops. It's a bit cheaper, but still good.

It's a marketing thing, where we try to keep a high quality top available in various price ranges. Sailcloth gets pricey - when you buy a new Jeep it's built-in to the price, so you don't notice it. When you buy a replacement, it's expensive enough to make you pay attention!

You can also get upgraded windows that are better than stock. They use this stuff called "strataglass" that they use on high end yachts. It's scratch resistant and thicker than normal window glass. But again, it gets pricey.

Choices! We got's 'em.

Sweet. I'm gonna wait till its nice out side and see if I can still see through my original windows. I have an 04 and a hard top for the winter. so the life of the top should be extended more than if i was runnin a straight soft top...but the previous owner was pretty rough on the windows...anyone know if that window restorer stuff really works? and to what extent?
