Seat moving forward

I'm not sure if I'm going crazy, here, but I seem to remember that when I first got my Jeep (2000 TJ Sport), when I pulled the tab to pull the front seat forward to set somebody in the back, the back of the seat would move forward, and then the whole seat would tilt up, giving the person even more space to get back there. Now only the top of the seat tilts forward.

I know I could just poke around under the seat and check, but I'm at the office now, so I have time to think about this. I'll be playing with the seat tonight anyway (installing my new IGGEEs! ), so does anybody know what I should be looking for?

When you pull the lever up on the side of the seat, the seat will tilt forward to the same point it does when you pull the lever at the bottom of the seat. Then when you pull the seat forwad a little more it should unlock the lever on the bottom to allow the seat to tilt forward. You can see the lever drop through the side just inside the track bar. Its only about 6 inches long or so, square and has a notch in it.

The cable on the tab breaks all the time. Both of mine are broke so I just use the lever underneath now.

x2 mine broke a few years ago. I think its like a $30 part to replace. I'll be doing this this summer.

For now I just use the tab to lean it forward, the bar underneath to tilt it, and the slider to move it forward.
What have we got?
We have one heavily armed Recreational Vehicle

There is a cable under the seat that is broken. I replaced mine last year. The part is about 40.00 if you buy from the dealer, but you might be able to find an aftermarket part cheaper online. You must remove the seat from the Jeep in order to do the repair. It is a bit of a PITA because the torx bolts will be somewhat rusted into the body of the jeep. Once removed, flip it over and you should see the old broken cable underneath. There is a second, longer cable that may also be damaged. this is the cable that connects to the loop and runs down the side of the chair. It costs about the same as the short cable underneath the seat, maybe a little more. I have had to replace both of mine. The longer cable can be replaced without removing the seat.
