I took velcro pieces about a foot long, adhesive on one side, hooks on the other and stuck it to the adhesive side of a "fuzzy" piece of velcro, leaving hooks one side and "fuzzy" on other. did this twice for two pieces total. Unzip window fully vertical and a few inches horizontal. roll up window- I make sure its clean first- then run velcro sections around each end, "fuzzy" side toward window, works great. I wrap the pieces around roll bar when not using so I don't lose them.
I'm sure there is a more technical name than "fuzzy" but can"t remember it.

I have no idea why Jeep put those straps on the roof to hang them by. I used them one time on my rear window when I first bought the jeep and put a series of permanent scuffs and blemishes in the window.
If you roll the window onto itself with no felt or a towel to protect it, the window will work against itself and you will get scratches and scuffs on the plastic. Even on a short trip around town. That's why I use one of these:
Clover Patch 10-ST-9100 - Clover Patch Window Roll™ for 87-06 Jeep® Wrangler YJ, TJ & Unlimited - Quadratec

You don't need to buy a window roll, but at least make yourself some felt sheets to wrap them up in.
Also, keep a plant spray bottle with some water in it and a towel to clean them before you roll them up as dust on them will also cause scratches when you roll them up. And never wipe them with anything while they are dry. By doing these things you can keep them looking like new for years. Roll them up one time without protection and drive a short distance and you will see the permanent damage you just did to them.

I am also coufused.
I roll my rear window up quite often and the only scratches I have are from the trails.
Also, when I fold down my top, I only unsip the window partially and allow it to roll as the top comes down.
The side windows get stored behind the front seat.
Again, my windows get damaged MORE while they are installed then they do with the top down and put away.

Must be worse where I live. We have dirt roads and dusty Jeep trails and it literally took one 15 minute drive to scratch my rear window up when I rolled it up with no felt protecting it. Probably not as much of an issue if you live and drive in the city.

Guys, he's not talking about the window over the tailgate, he's talking about the rear side windows. Look at the picture and how he has them folded but still attached. It looks like he's wanting to roll it toward the front but still attached and clip it like that. Again, something I think is inadvisable - at a minimum due to shortening the life of the window.
