shifter knob

ok this is gonna sound crazy.... i just did a head gasket on my 01 2.5 wrangler. successfully may i add. so i am mechanically inclined. but for some reason i cannot not get my shifter knob off so i acan put a different one on. i trid twisting, no such luck. whats the trick?

Get a knife and pop up the logo on top of the knob that has the shift pattern on it. Then you will see what to do from there.

Auto or manual?
I know on a auto you set the brake put it in N and yank and it comes off.....either that or mine is broke LOL.

mizz, thanks for the info, that was my next idea wasnt sure though cause itdidnt look like the pattern piece came off. wolf thanks for the input , im thinkin it shouldnt just pull off but what do i know. im a lowrider guy just gettin into jeeps, lol
