If your planning on replacing them, you could wait till you pull them out, then go to the hardware store and pick up some grade 8 bolts and nuts in the right diameter/length.

The front uses two bolts on the bottom, and a nut that should come with the shock on top, and the rear uses two bolts that have nuts welded to the frame and a large bolt and nut to hold the bottom of the shock.

The point would be for them to drive you to the store after you take the shocks off.

I have a 06 and replaced my shocks. The manufactured bolts threads are different than any auto store will have in stock. I found OEM bolts have angled threads are angled for normal vibration w/o lock washer. Therefore, the originials thread directly into a weld nutsert. On one rear bolt I broke, I had to break the nutsert to install a bolt w/ washer, lock washer, & nut.

The front lower bolts aren't size/length critical, take 1 out and bring to hardware store to get a bolts/nuts of similar size, it won't be a problem cruising around town with one bolt out.

The threads are the same as the rear uppers (at least on my 03 they are) , but as someone stated they are not a standard thread pitch so you may not find them at the store.

Mines going to a shop today actually.... busted a rear upper and don't have the patience to mess with it.

Depends on the drive. I tried it and the front shock slipped off of the pin and came loose. I live about 12-15 miles from the Lowes and it was a bumpy, winding road. I didn't notice much other than the clanging on potholes.

Good point indeed, suppose safe advice is good advice, I should have said "Shouldn't" be a problem....wasn't for me.

Glad, well sort of glad...$$... I brought to a shop for the rear shocks, they had a heck of a time drilling out the busted bolt then the other one broke also so they had to do the same for that, the pass side came right off they say. They had to punch though and break the factory nuts off the top of the frame. So...new bolts/nuts w/ anti seize all around!....will prob sell the jeep before replacing shocks again though....
