Shock Boots

Are the shock boots really needed? or is it better to cut them off?

And trap dirt, sand, etc. where it can work its way into the shock seal.

Thats what I thought. The top of mine are fairly loose around the lip and I can't seem to keep the bottoms zip tied to the body of the shock. Thats why I was wondering if they were even needed. I assume this goes for the front stabilizer also.

I also think its a good idea to go without the boots. Like jerry bransford said, there is a seal in there to keep out the junk. Plus I also think it looks a lot better without the boot myself. But that's just an opinion.

The boots just hold the dirt in. Yes in a perfect world they would keep all the dirt out, but they all have holes in the boots that allow dirt in there and then it can't get out.
