Shock question?

I just purchased my dream jeep roughly a week ago and still are in the process of checking everything out. Attached are images of the shocks which are on my jeep currently, they seem to be pretty rusted and I am unable to see the brand in which they are. I am new to the Jeep lifestyle so I apologize if this is a dumb question. Based off the images, do they look as if they will need to be replaced? So far I have not noticed them not functioning well, but I have barely had a chance to try them out yet. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!

Welcome to the jeep world! They kind of look like ProComp ES series shocks, but I can't tell. There should be a model number stamped into the steel somewhere and that will tell you. If you have a pretty stiff ride, you probably have procomp shocks

As far as telling if they are still good, unless they are leaking externally you can't really tell without taking them off and seeing if they provide the resistance they should in either direction. You will probably be able to tell if they need to be replaced if you feel some excessive bouncing off of bumps in the road.

Check that brake line in the pic to make sure it isn't wearing through from rubbing against the shock.

PS, nice color
