Shocks for a Stock TJ Sport

Hi All,
I'm needing shocks for my stock TJ Sport. I've been reading about all kinds of shocks for the lifted Jeeps, but that's not in my budget right now. What kind of shocks should I be looking for for my Stock TJ Sport that won't be getting a lift kit for at least 3 or 4 years? I do mostly highway and rough country road driving with very little off roading as there aren't many spots to offroad in my area. I live in PA where the roads are never smooth so the shocks with the smoothest ride wins!!
Thanks everyone.

OME makes stock length shocks as well. At least I think they do. Give Dirk at DPG Off-road a call. He'll be happy to help you.

you might want to look into Bilstein 5100s for 0-2" lifted jeeps.

I was going to get those shocks over this summer but they were out of stock. Autoanything.com had a pretty good price, but now they raised their price to almost $20 a shock. How do they ride?

I perused this forum for many hours trying to determine what kind of shocks to get. OME is a great choice.

Those that suggest OME do so for a good reason- they know. They own them and use them. These shocks I list below run $89.99 each at Quadratec, which is one of the cheaper places to get them. But dont take my word for it- google it or search at amazon and ebay. You might find a better buy.

For the front:
Old Man Emu N66 - Old Man Emu Front Nitrocharger Shock Absorber for 97-06 Jeep® Wrangler TJ & Unlimited with 0-2" Lift - Quadratec

For the rear:
Old Man Emu N67 - Old Man Emu Rear Nitrocharger Shock Absorber for 97-06 Jeep® Wrangler TJ & Unlimited with 0-2.5" Lift - Quadratec

If you PM the forum user "quadratec" you'll reach Joe. Ask him for help with reduction in shipping charges.

As for performance- these shocks are great! Smooth ride on the road, and tough to handle the bounces on the terrain. They are rated for 0-2" of lift, which helps you with your dilemma. No lift kit needed now, but you can lift to 2" later on when the budget allows.

Happy trails!

Ok, updated question... I can get a 2" or 3" lift for under $400 from Quadratec, of the 4 they offer (because the above mentioned shocks by themselves are the same price as these lifts) which would you suggest?
I have 31 10.50's on the Jeep now.
Skyjacker 2" Spacer Lift Kit for 97-06 Jeep® Wrangler TJ & Unlimited - Quadratec
Daystar KJ09126BK - Daystar 3" Comfort Ride Lift Kit with Shocks for 97-06 Jeep® Wrangler TJ & Unlimited - Quadratec
Warrior Products 30720 - Warrior Products 2" Lift Kit for 97-06 Jeep® Wrangler TJ & Unlimited - Quadratec
Rugged Ridge ORV 2" Spacer Suspension System for 97-06 Jeep® Wrangler TJ & Unlimited - Quadratec

or are there others under $400 you would recommend from other retailers?
Thanks guys!!

I think that DPG has a 2" BB with OME shocks for around that price. I've read many good things about OME shocks. I don't know how much he charges for shipping.

Contact Allen at AOR. He's a vendor here too. I just picked up a Zone Off Road 2" spacer lift from him, including shocks. You can get it shipped for about $230+\-. Love it rides like stock if not better. I wouldn't go over 2" on a budget kit... Look him up.

OME doesn't make stock length shocks

I'd suggest looking into Monroe, Rancho or Bilstein -they seem to be popular stock height replacement shocks.
