Should I buy a Willys?

Hey guys, have been a Jeep owner for several years (Cherokee) I have always wanted a Wrangler and have come across a 2005 Wrangler Willys Edition for $14,900, it is a one owner and only has 34,000 miles. It is the 4.0. Bone stock. From what I've read online it seems like a decent deal, but I have some questions:

1) Do you think it is a good deal?

2) It's a softtop, will I regret not having a Hardtop?

3) It has the 6-speed manual, any advantages/disadvantages to the 5-speed? I.E. reliability, ect...

This will be my daily driver.

Thanks!

I thought he was talking about a real Willys too. That's probably pretty close on price. I don't know for sure though since I haven't researched that price range in depth. I was in the ~10k range when looking for mine.

I drive with a soft top in New England. It's not a problem. Any Jeep thats newer than 2003 will have the Sailcloth material, which insulates from sound and temps pretty decently. Jeep heaters are the best, so let that bad boy crank for a few minutes in the winter, and you won't even know that you're in a soft top.

Price seems a bit high, but I think the most important thing about that version is it may have the better dana rear 44 axle(has a metal square fill plug on the diff cover).. again not 100% sure on that. Figure out what other jeep for the same year and miles are going for in your area and base it on that.

I think they have the 35 rear. I have heard the 5 speed was better than the six speed, and the soft top is greenish in color and will be a dealership only replacement if you want to keep that color in the future. The Willys edition is cool with the cammo seats and the dealer option of the decal package. Good luck and post pics.

You can get a Wrangler much cheaper than that... and probably make it like you want it.
