Side Steps for 98 Jeep Wrangler Sport

Does anyone know if there is a way to mount side steps for a 2001 Jeep Wrangler on a 1998 Jeep Wrangler?? Someone sold me the wrongs steps (though they look like they may work) and brackets (obviously don't fit). Is there a way to modify and make it work or should I just resell?

you just need the different mounting brackets, try calling the manufacturer and see iff they can send you the right ones. My sliders came with both so i have a spare set of brackets for 2001-06 and they are very different.

If its factory side steps I believe 97-98 or 99 bolt straight to the frame with 8 bolts. Thats way my 97 is. On 00 up they have some type of u bolt set up but steps are the same.

The '99 does in fact bolt directly to the frame.

Most people remove them because all they do is get the back of you pants dirty.
