I installed Silverstars into my previous TJ years ago & noticed no difference in brightness. One of them burned out within the first year.

Just go with H4 conversions, with the bulbs of your choice. More $$, but worth it.

What is an H4 conversion? Sorry I am new to jeeps, but the headlights on my TJ are about as useful as 3D TV for a blind man. I need more light, without spending an arm and a leg.

Put silverstars in my last p.u. and was not impressed at all. They also had a lot less lifespan. I have the same headlight problem with my TJ and decided to try the KC conversions, their about $100. but everything I've read says their well worth the money!

Hella E codes with H-4 bulbs! You will be amazed in the difference from the stock sealed beams. I did this about 2 weeks ago. Susquehanna Motorsports great price and service. Ordered them on a Friday night and they were there Wednesday when I got home from work. Took about half hour to install.

I'm running Hella E-codes as well. ~$32 each from Streetside Auto.

On my last 02 tj I noticed a huge improvement over stock with silverstars. I did it on my 06 and didn't notice much difference

I did that change! Should have just taped a birthday candle to each light!

I did them just because I got them for literally nothing (returned to auto parts store for being "defective".. My friend just handed them over when the customer left) and saw an improvement over my old halogens. I understand wavelengths but I suppose that my old lights were so bad that an "even worse" bulb is better than what I had. My windshield is tinted to 40% and even with the Silverstars I'm totally comfortable driving at night.

I have the Silverstars in my 05 and I see a big improvement over the stock bulbs. Do a lot of driving in PA back roads and I think they're great.

Forget the silverstars, way too expensive.

FWIW (before I thought of the below idea) I bought the ebay specials on my last one and I was happy with them as massively cheap alternatives to my buddy's deltas. The light output was a drastic difference and I think I paid 27 bucks shipped to my door with some chinese bulbs that came free with them. Definitely cheaply constructed stuff but at the price who cares.

I know this is common knowledge to most on here but the 7" headlights are literally all the same, they'll all work. Even on motorcycles; coincidentally the Prindiville Land Rover Defender 90 actually uses 2011 Harley Davidson LED projection headlights. For S&G when I got my screamin eagle headlight for my bagger over the summer, I popped it in the bucket on the wrangler; shocking, it fit and looked sick (but at 150 bucks a piece I'll pass). Also, down the beach this year I saw a guy with H-D lenses in his wrangler (they were stock dealer take-offs, he never removed the emblem); the clear H-D lenses are actually excellent quality.

I'd check ebay and see what look you like. Any will fit and with a little wiring you can add anything. Seriousl though keep an eye out for the Harley take-offs! I got one for $0.99 with $7.99 shipping at one point. They have tons of options CHEAP on ebay as well, even with turn signals in them and stuff. But for the money, I'd go with those take-offs and remove the harley emblem on them; then you have a quality lense at the price of less than 1 silverstar bulb.

Please don't get halos.

I'd stay away from cheap headlights found on Ebay (BTDT, a long time ago).
Unless they're name brand ( Delta, Bosch, Hella, etc.) most of the H4 conversions on Ebay are cheap ass junk.

Lots of good info at Daniel Stern Lighting website.
Well worth your time to read.
Daniel Stern sells Cibie lights, definitely very good quality lights.

In my opinion, Hella e-codes are a better value than the equivalent Cibie, considering price and performance difference.

I have the IPF conversion and I love them. Rarely have to use high beam!

EXPENSIVE ???? They're less than $25 each. In my book, that's not "expensive".

I put Silverstars in my '98 and they made a HUGE difference. But like has been said already ... maybe my stockers were extremely old and dim.

I tried silverstar bulbs on my last vehicle. Output was great, but lifespan was horrible.

As for the conversion though, I have seen a few different brands mentioned here. IPF, Hella, Bosch, Delta get mentioned alot.

I read the review unlimited posted above "jeep headlight shootout - jp magazine"

IPF seems to get the best review but they state they are not DOT.

Hella got a decent review for performance, but on the installation nothing lined up. Found these on their website. My Hella Lights :: Vision Plus 7" Round Conversion Headlamp Are they the right lights?

They didn't review any bosch lights, but these were posted earlier and are affordable for me. Bosch European H4 Headlights - PAIR. Anybody have experience with them?

Delta got the worst review as far as ease of installation and fit. Plus some of you mentioned the lenses are low quality and they crack.

I am leaning towards the Bosch ones right now but being advertised as VW replacement, and fits "Most" 7" headlight vehicles, I don't know if I will have install problems.

I got mine off Ebay so I cant speak for any other brands. I may try a different bulb to see if it helps.

Delta Lighting Replacement Headlights - Headlight Replacement - Replacement Headlights & Bulbs - Lighting & Lighting Accessories - by 4 Wheel Parts

I have these with the Xenon h4 bulbs....great lights and they are plug and go. Took me all of maybe 10 min to take the sealed out and put these in

None of the E code housings are DOT approved, but I prefer them. They're actually safer, as in they don't blind oncoming traffic due to the flat beam cutoff. DOT approved or not; makes no difference around here.

So i probably won't get pulled over if the light pattern is right. But can you pass inspections? Some of those reviews mentioned that the lights weren't stamped DOT.

But that confuses me as well. We have a 2003 Silverado, and a 2011 F-150. I know these are not the same kind of lights but I don't recall either of those having a DOT stamp on the headlights.
