Sitting on the side of the road!!!

So I'm driving to another town on a pretty coastal highway and I start smelling something. I look at my oil pressure gauge and it's at 0! WTF?! Pull over really fast and shut it off, to smoke pouring out, I'm thinking OMG I blew it! Take a look and the small plastic hose on my pressure gauge blew out sending oil every where. Luckily it wasn't that long and I still have oil when I checked the dip stick.

Here is the good part, I'm in my nice work clothes and I just had surgery on my right index finger making it useless! I am literally in the middle of nowhere waiting for the wife to bring some oil and a change of clothes... At least I have the iPad and great cell service to kill time!

Gonna post a few pics just cause I can.

If you have a lighter you can melt the plastic hose closed. Just to stop the flow of spewing oil.

That's too bad but that's also the reason I wouldn't run a mechanical oil pressure gauge if someone paid me to.

The factory oil pressure gauge is electric, that mechanical oil pressure gauge your TJ has is pure aftermarket. I'm guessing the previous owner installed it.

Yes, because the sending unit was bad. I replaced that but left the gauge. Guess I'll take it out...

Okay found a screw in the glove box that fit and jammed it in. Should hold till I get home. Still gonna add some oil to be safe.

1) That sucks.

2) It never ceases to impress me at the resourcefulness and the availability of this community. Jerry, especially - there at the drop of a hat.

Hope you get your problem solved with a quickness, ospreyguy.

1. Yes it does. 2. YES IT DOES!

I only sat there for about 45 min until the wife arrived with some oil to be safe. I had it fixed and ready to go when she got there.
