Skid Plate

Help!

I need to replace the fuel tank skid plate on my 1999 Wrangler because of rust through. Is this a straight forward replacement or does the skid plate also support the fuel tank?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Rokmen has a very good video on their website that really details how to remove your existing skid plate and gas tank. The two come out as a unit and they show & tell all of the lines that must be disconnected, etc. Their goal inthis video is to show you how to install one of their skid plates and might want to consider it. It appears to be much better than stock.

There's Rockman's installation video. I'm more partial to Savy's skid plate myself

But, the procedure is really simple and can be done with one person. Two people makes alignment easier, but I've never had a helping hand. You'll need jackstands and a hydrolic jack.

There's a member who wrote up a beautiful piece on how to remove the gas tank and check that everything is in good condition.
