Slight thump/popping noise

I have been noticing a slight popping/thumping noise coming from right under the driver side floor, I think there is something going on with the drive shaft going to my 4wd but it makes the nose constantly and you can feel it really good when going slow and making turns at a slow speed. Could this be a problem or does everyones jeep do this?

None of my jeeps make this noise (had a 2000 sahara, now a 2003 rubicon and 94 YJ) so I'd say you definitely need to get underneath, engine shut off...and grab ahold of the front driveshaft and see if there is any wobble or give to it. Check out the universals, CV joint if it has one...and if you are mechanically inclined, even take it out for a good checking and run without it for a test run...if the noise and thumping goes away then you know it's the driveshaft! Yes, you can run without the front shaft!

Have the same thing going on here. Driveshaft and u joints seem tight. Still havent figured out what it is. Oh well its a jeep not a caddy! If something breaks then I'll fix it!

yeah i have the same thing... I've checked and things are tight and seem fine. It almost sounds like its coming from the T-case or linkage.

Thats most likely the culprit. My 99 does it and I sprayed it with WD40 to quiet it down until I can get the repair kit. It sounds the worst when taking off because of the drivetrain moving. Atleast its a cheap fix!

I have had something like the same sound just recently and still somewhat in the process of fixing it... but do this for me sit in you jeep or not and turn the wheel left to right (while the jeep is not running) or you can crank it up to get the power steering but if you still hear the noise when the jeep is cut off then its prob the same prob I had which is the track arm bushing.... you can order the bushing from most parts store (I guess had 1 in my town that said it was discontinued and 2 that had 2 different types available for my model but be careful when taking the bolt loose soak it with some type of loosening spray or something to loosen it up. I paid to have my part over night'd to me and then went to take it off and broke the bolt right in half so now just got a bigger bolt in the old bushing until i can find a bolt to replace it. Let me know if this helps I went went through hell tryin to find out what my prob was.
