Slop in NP231

Does anyone else have slop in their transfer case? I have a 5 speed and sometimes I get nervous in 4Lo and 1st gear because it feels like there is excessive slop in the gears/chain. I need to know if the slop is normal, and when there is too much slop. Does the chain get stretched over time?

The chain can stretch over time and there is no adjustment. This vid is of an NP242 but it shows what can happen to any chain driven T-case.

As long as you don't hear a slapping noise you should be fine. If your chain was as stretched as the one in that video you would hear a very audible slapping noise as the chain bangs against the inside of the t-case.
