small lift for 31s

Hello everyone,

I just got a new set of Duratracs today and I'd like to look into a small lift for a little extra clearance. I have read several days worth of searches and spoke to a few people at Quadratec, but I'd also like the opinion of some folks on here that have actually done it.

I don't want to do anything that will require a MML or BL or a TC drop. I'm just trying to find out if it is possible to simply do springs and shocks to get additional lift without running into drive line issues and vibrations. Half of the things I read say it is not a problem, I can do 2" springs and shocks and be down the road with no other modifications and the other threads say that I will still need a tc drop or SYE even with only a 2" lift.

What do you guys think? Is it possible to do a 2" lift, lets say BDS springs and shocks and nothing else? I don't do hard core rock crawling or extreme flexing, but I do go off road and would like a little extra clearance so the 31s don't hit the fenders/flares.

Thanks!

Joe

Isn't a leveling kit just the pucks in the front? That could be possible as long as it doesn't ruin the ride. That's why I decided against a BB, A lot of responses on various threads say that a BB will ride terribly and that spings are the way to go.

Don't let a 2" spring lift scare you. If you get any driveline vibes, you can space down the skid plate with a few washers. Its not a big deal and is actually good to have that 3/16" air space to prevent the skid plate from locking in water (aka rust) on the frame.

My 01 has a 2" body lift from PO. Stock springs, links and shocks. I have 31x10.5's on it. Wheeling with front links detached. No rub issues with big flex.
