your thermostat or water pump may be going bad... mine started to do the same thing and shortly after the water pump went out

Dont let it keep happening, check the thermostat and/or water pump very soon. I had a shattered piston caused by corroded water pump fins. The fins were completely corroded so no coolant could circulate, causing overheating, which expands the metal in the block, leaving no room for the piston, causing it to shatter. Same symptoms as yours. It wouldnt overheat until about an hour or some hard abuse. Check out RockAuto.com, I picked up a water pump for like $16 or something like that. Thermostats are a super cheap fix too, dont wait too long or youll be looking at a $2000 bill for a rebuild.

I had the same issue. I replaced my water pump, t-stat, t-stat housing, upper radiator hose, installed deep tranny oil pan, aux tranny cooler, fan clutch, and radiator. I just want to be safe and a piece of mind when I am out in the middle of no where.

ollllllo, I like your style. So many problems posted here could have been prevented with some good preventive maintenance. If it's getting hot and it's stock, change it all. It will pay you back in the long run.

Yup...very true. Spend some now then much more later. I bought the Jeep used and I don't care if the previous owner said he changed this and that. I assumed he did not change anything and take care of it asap so I can have a piece of mind.
