it only matters that it's, "not a Warn," the one time it fails. Problem for all of us is it's just an insurance policy mounted to the bumber.

Wel I have a warn 8000 winch It only gave me 2 years of use (and you dont use it that much)
It doesnt work anymore its sitting in my garage on the floor now makes a good paper weight
its going to cost almost as much as a new warn winch to fix it

WARN... My Buddy has the XD9000i and seems to like it. His only complaint is that you run over the cable sometimes when winching... Absolutely go with Warn.. Their customers service is extremely good and you can buy parts from them should anything break.. They are whores about sending stickers though, so beware to hand them out to your friends after a request for anything (including literature).

It's hard to beat the good old reliable American-made Warn line of winches. Ramsey is ok and so are Superwinch's winches that are made in the US. However, I'd never buy a Chinese-built winch like Smittybilt, Harbor Freight, MileMarker's electrics, etc. Not only do I believe we should send as little of our $$$ to China as possible, they produce a lot of low quality and even often dangerous products I would not use if I had a choice.

I've had good luck with my smittybilt but I have to jimmy the remote plug in on the solenoid to get it to work. Overall good winch but there has to be something more reliable. Like a Warn.

China doesn't make Hondas or Toyotas... Japan does. Two different countries and two totally different ways of looking at what they make and provide to people.

I have a 12k lbs 300$ china winch. Itīs a bit slower and louder than a warn. But it does its job nearly every weekend and I never had a problem with it.
My next winch will be a superwinch because itīs better for synthetic winch line, the brake isnīt in the drum.

I have helped a few people out with a few different winches, the best I have seen is the new Warn powerplant HP. Rubiconmebaby has one and wow! Anyways, When I had my YJ I got it stuck really really bad, and my buddy had a mile marker winch(same as chicago electric) and it took everything a 9k winch had(started smoking) just to pull a yj out. I am guessing the same story with Smittybilt. I have looked at prices for winches and unless you plan on buying the Powerplant your figures are a bit off. Warn is very comparable as are superwinch.

All Just a thought. Hope you find something that works for you!

Happy winching!
