Snorkle vs intake

I have a kn and I do notice smoother driving a little improved horse power. If I don't drive my jeep threw anything crazy deep is a snorke good for anything else besides preventing flooding. I line the look of them. So Basically is it worth the switch if I don't go threw anything deep deep.

A snorkel will not help your performance at all, in fact quite the opposite. Put a clothes pin on your nose and a straw in your mouth, and then run around the block. If you just want the "look", install the snorkle on the exterior, but don't hook it up to the air box.

You can also install the kit fully. But only hook it up when needed. Streets flooded deep mud or river crossing. I have the kn and built a custom watertight airbox around the filter from the original airfilter box. to hook up to the snorkel when needed but leave the lid off for DD ritual. I'll try to get pics up if I can. It's like a suitcase looking setup

I actually pulled my k&n out because of how bad the k&n filter is for an engine. The connect when used and unconnected when not snorkel setup is still viable.

The only reason anyone ever notices an increase in power or mpg on a Wrangler TJ after installing a K&N is due to the well-known Placebo Effect.

Yes, a K&N can help improve performance with SOME vehicles that have a restrictive air intake system. However, the TJ's air intake was specifically (!) designed from day-one to be completely non-restrictive so a K&N won't help with a Wrangler TJ in the least. The TJ's engine is not starving for air at all, the factory air intake and paper element air filter can easily flow far more air than the engine can ask for even at wide-open throttle and redline rpms. Really.

In fact, all your engine will get more of with a K&N is dirt. Really.
