So...

Bought a 02 Wrangler X with a 4.0 5spd and 2 inch lift a few months back. I did the math and am getting about 10.5 mpg (200 miles per tank) It is a 19 gallon tank... That is me shifing in low RPM's as well... normally under 3k. Does this sound right to you guys?

10mpg? Sheesh... should be getting at least 15-16. I know with my Auto 4.0l and 32" tires I'm getting like 14.5, and thats on stock gears.

What size tires does it have?

BTW - an 02 Wrangler is a TJ not a YJ.

So...

gas milage is not a friend of the wrangler

and you should post this in the TJ thread, since you have a tj, not a yj

I have kept it between 2-3k rpm... changing out the plugs, air fil. and what not... prolly get another bottle of the injection cleaner... think I might go with a K&N for it... Hope that fixes things... tire pressure is not the deal either... check that weekly...

200ish sounds about right but you dont fill up w/ 19 gallons every time do ya? Usually its about 16 gallons...

In the winter mine goes about 200ish since i wait for it to warm up every mourning.. in summer i go about 270-280 per tank.

under 3k is not really that low. The 4.0 achieves max torque at about 2300. I can squeeze 18 out of mine in the summer, but keep it at around 1500rpm. If you're above 30mph use 5th, it's a jeep not a civic.

That may not be true depending on gearing, but with 3.73 I don't even use 1st on the streets most days.

Hey! What temp is your motor running at? Does it run a little cold? Ideal should be in the 200-215 range any colder than that can cost u performance as well as milage!

This is not correct..........the 4.0 liter torque peaks at about 3200, not 2300. My 06 Rubicon got better gas mileage with 33s in 5th gear rather than 6th at highway speeds.

I have not looked at the temp it runs at... light came on today at 187 miles... my 5th gear does shit on the highway... normally leave it in 4th and keep it between 55 and 65mph...
