So my jeep is ruined.

I got rear ended and was laughing at the damage on his car and mine had none.

Here's some pics

Well I was driving home from the accident, going about 50mph. My brakes went out and my steering locked. Liquid started squirting out from the sides of my hood and white smoke was going everywhere. I'm 16, and I'v had my license for 2 days.

So what happened was he hit me so hard my fan went into my radiator. Now my jeep might be totaled and if that happenes I have to drive a shitty Yukon. Hopefully I get to continue the jeep life:/

Since he hit you that hard, you might have some hidden back or neck injuries. Don't sign any forms saying you are ok yet that the other guy's insurance company may shove in front of you or your parents. I hope you're ok, the Jeep can be replaced.

Obviously, you were mistaken. I hope you didn't laugh too hard. I also hope you did not sign anything stating your Jeep was not damaged after the accident.

He was at fault and should be responsible for repairing your Jeep.

If it's totaled bargain with them on the buyback, presuming everything else is OK, and just do a few junkyard swaps with the extra cash.

Thanks man, yeah I'm lucky I'm alright but my baby haha. I was stiff and sore for the first 2 days, but I think I'm fine. His insurance agent is coming to examine my car in the shop to deem it either totaled or fixable on Friday. Praying its fixable!

I never bothered to check under the hood, if I got rear ended I thought my rear was all that could have been damaged. Obviously I was mistaken. And luckily they are paying for it all, but there's a point where it's not worth fixing to them (not to me though )

Glad you are ok. Hope the skate board was secure. Things like that can become projectiles when you are rear ended, and can take your head off

Well, like already mentioned, the most important thing is that you are ok. Don't sign anything, or cash any checks until you know 100% sure that you do not have any hidden injuries. Get checked out and send them the bill.

Good that they are taking care of it. You just might like your replacement Jeep better, if it ends up totaled.

The only way I can think of that your fan would hit your radiator, is if your entire drive train was shoved forward by the impact. If that was the case, I would question the condition of rear dif, transfer case, transmission, and frame connections. Normally you would think that hitting the frame members from the rear would do just the opposite, there would be more clearance between radiator and fan, at least for an instant. I say, if they total it, you might be better off....go shopping. Glad you're okay.

I hope it was just the radiator came loose and went into the fan. That would stall the Jeep- no power steering or brakes. Can't believe the engine would move that far forward from that damage.

Now you can take all the knowledge you have gained since owning it and pick a replacement that has a Dana 44 rear or other upgrades you may not have cared about before. glad you are ok!

Remember, his insurance company works for him, not you. They will try to screw you out of money. Be prepared to fight.

Read through this thread and pay close attention to how jfallon83 and his girlfriend dealt with insurance companies. You'll learn a lot.

The guy who rear-ended you should pay for his mistake. Don't let his insurance company force you into an unfair settlement.

You need to call your insurance co. They are on your side and will fight for you . The other guys insurance is going to try and burn you they all try . If they do try and total it I would get another shop to look at it in the end the shop can make or brake a total . Do Not let the record any phone calls of you talking about the wreck ether .
Good luck and don't take No shit from them

This used to be true, I had Gieco, the wife got rear-ended and Gieco decided they would handle the other insurance company (didn't give us a choice), told us the car was totaled, was worth less than 1/3 of it's KBB value and took almost 2 years to get the damage paid for. We had to hire a lawyer to sue OUR insurance company and thiers to get it resolved. We learned that more and more insurance companies are dealing with each other this way to cut down on their pay outs.

Our bodyshops wont accept Geico, as they refuse to pay standard labor rates. For what it's worth.

16yrs old and are relegated from driving a Jeep to Yukon... Woe is you, hah hah. At 16 you should be glad to be driving anything not named Pinto, Escort, Fiesta, Chevette or the like...

Crazy considering the visible damage to both vehicles. Perhaps some fastener or something was already working itself loose then the impact just finished it off. Fan/shroud/radiator can be purchased under $400 easy on eBay.

I was in what seemed like a minor rear-ender many years go...it was a chain reaction and I was the front car out of 3 (the fourth car hit the rear one and then everyone hit the person in front of them). My car, a BMW 318i, wasn't damaged but I took it in the neck. Instant headache, neck/shoulder pain, etc. Like an idiot I settled soon after, but it hurt for YEARS afterwards whenever I was stressed or tired. I remember the adjuster asked me how much I wanted and I threw out $5k plus chiropractor and massage costs and he said "DONE!" really fast and eager-like. I should have waited to see how bad it was going to be instead of assuming the pain would be gone in a few weeks, or that it would never come back. So learn from my experience - you might not be fine. If you're stiff and sore, then you were injured and should be compensated.

It's happened Monday and I still feel a little stiff, like my back needs to be cracked. I'v told my parents and all they say is it will go away and that I'm young it won't be long term, I'm hoping there right, back problems don't sound fun at all.

It's been more than four days, you're still having pain, and your parents told you not to worry about it? Yikes.

Remember when you thought you didn't have any damage to your Jeep and all hell broke loose later on down the road? Your musculoskeletal system may be in the same situation.

You're right: back issues are nothing to ignore. Don't take chances. The guy who hit you should pay for your care rather than you paying for a lifetime of issues that could've been prevented. That's what insurance is for.

Call your primary care physician up and ask for his recommendation. He may want to see you first so he can give you an appropriate referral. Don't forget: your bills should go to the insurance company of the guy who hit you. You shouldn't be paying a dime for his mistake.

Above all, don't let anyone dissuade you from getting help, not even your parents. It shocks me that they're brushing off your discomfort.

Well guys I learn today at around noon if my jeep is totaled or if I get it back.

If it's totaled: I get the Yukon, which is still a nice car, but a jeep is my kind of thing.

If it's not totaled: not only do I get it back, I get new 32 in. Mud grapplers and a lift kit,

So right now it's an all or nothing kind of gamble, scared as hell!

My advice is to not take advice from people on the Internet about stuff like this

You are not the first person in history to get rear ended...happens daily. Work with your insurance company to reach a fair settlement. The fact that the thing is totaled or not is simple math. Even if its totaled, you can still make arrangements to keep it and have it fixed.

YOU got rear ended! You should get made whole. That's the way it should work.

If not, consult with a good lawyer not an ambulance chaser.

BTW, treat the driver the way you want to be treated. Chances are some day you will hit someone. Be fair and reasonable and things will work out fine.

???He should make the guy a sandwich??? He shouldn't be talking to the driver, only the driver's/his insurance company, any you're allowed to treat them as poorly as you want until they get someone on the phone that can actually help you.
