Plasti Dip

It is stuff you dip things like the handles of a pair of pliers in to coat them with plastic to make them more comfortable to use. You can get it at hardware stores and parts houses.

Its basically a temporary latex like covering. Peels off in time.

You can get it in a spray paint can from any big hardware stores. It goes on like paint, dryes like paint, but it comes off like a glove and leaves no marks. Its a great product for blacking things out. However many layers you put will determine its durability. I have my hood plasti dipped black and it has not yet faded/came off. Its like I put it on yesterday, when its been over a year.

I'd give you a youtube link but I'm on my phone. Search plastidip on youtube and have hours of enjoyment!

It's extremely easy to use and affordable and looks great. I did my wheels, step rails and head light bezels and I couldn't be happier. And it comes right off if you don't like it anymore

It's overly used a a "mod" not sure about it's use as an off road advantage like say.........discos or a good set of tires. Also see spray on bedliner for another "mod" for painting things like wheels or ashtrays etc.

Not at all Patrick, I'm just being a dh I guess. I'm waiting for somebody to build a vat and dip their whole jeep in and be done with it.

These are two different items. There is a liquid in a can whch you can dip tool handles. The item which is the subject of many (way too many) posts is the spray.

Yes! this is what i wanna see also. Drive the whole jeep in there. It will be sweet. Then put some bedliner on it after it dries. I have used plasti-dip before anybody flames me for bashing it too...

No vat necesarry...

Obviously not mine, and definitely not for me; I've peeled the stuff off and it's a major PIA in my opinion. Great way to "test" blacking out stuff though.

I'd be happy if I never saw another thread on plastic dip.

For the record, I used truck bed coating on my grill. I won't be applying any temporary tool handle coating...

Jerry, you are not alone in this! Plastidip is for those without photoshop or even an imagination.

Stuffs great as a temporary fix or cover up. I'd be very happy to see some people keep their close minded opinions to themselves.

Or for those who would like a cheap, easy and fun way to change the look of their jeep without having to worry about messing it up if they don't like it. If it isn't your jeep then stop worrying about why other people use it and saying they have no imagination. I didn't know there was a requirement to have imagination to use paint rather than plasti dip.

So, this is a "no opinions allowed" forum?

Ha no I just get tired if seeing people bash others about stuff they wanna do to their jeep. They post stuff on here for help about things, not to see people talk crap about it

The problem is, some folks just get offended when someone else's opinion is different than theirs. I've been guilty of it myself.

Yea I have got offended too but I usually let it slide. I just hate when people dis on others. If you aren't going to try and help then just don't comment. It's as simple as that.

And yes that's why I used it too. I would rather get out and actually do it then just use photoshop or something. I like it better that way
