soft or hard top in moab?

I know, I know you guys are just going to tell me, "what ever you want to do man" But I really am having a tough time deciding. I'm going to Moab in late August its about 900 miles and i wanted to put the hard top on only for the idea that it would be quieter on the road for the long trip. But then I got to thinking how much fun it would be to take the top off while wheeling. my wife want the hard top because she is afraid of our 8 month old son getting sun burned and the car seat is easier with the lift gate. But I really want to be able to go topless in moab. Anyone have any input on this? ANY...........

i can EASILY answer this.... drive down with the hard top ON... when in moab... remove it.

simple enough?

you know they make that thing remove with a few simple bolts for a reason right?

im about 4 hours away.... if you need help i will have an excuse to come down to moab!

Better to listen to the boss to stay out of trouble. Then you don't have to hear about it for 1800 miles.

if it were me I'd just bring the softtop but once there I'd remove it and put a safari or bikini top on... I've found out the hardway about wheelin with a full top on... tore it up good on the rocks walls on some trails.

that's what I would do anyways.

I'd prefer the soft top too of course but your wife has a good point about your 8 month old son. I doubt he'd enjoy being out in the sun for long, even he were wearing sunscreen. Wheeling is tough with babies, you may be better off biting the bullet and running with the hard top for this trip. Plus though it's of course not true, your wife won't have the nagging gripe that you care more about the fun factor than the baby. Bite the bullet man, your wife will appreciate it.

I know the top comes off.......... the delima is where to put it when it is off, I won't have a garage in moab.

i would run the soft top or at least bring it to put on just for the fact that its much easier to replace soft top parts than hard top parts if the top takes damage...and you can leave it up so he won't get burnt. i would rather mess up a soft top window than break a hard top window.
