Soft Top Doors Stolen

My doors were stolen last night right outside my house in Berkley, CA

I have a soft top 1999 Wrangler SE...

Anyone ever have their frickin doors stolen?? Im in the process of trying to locate new ones (half door)...I've looked on all the usual places online like ebay and craigslist and one or two of the jeep parts sites. Going to a pick and pull tomorrow...

Anyone got any advice of where else to look or any advice at all?

Perhaps theres some doors out there with some kind of security device/bolting device that could prevent it happening again?

This is why I hate people. I've had people break into my vehicles 3 times in the past. I once got my truck robbed in Syracuse,NY at a bingo hall. I was inside playing bingo and they smashed the window on my Cherokee ripped out the radio and messed up all the wires behind the dash..never worked right after that...I hate people. And no I didn't win anything that night at bingo

Soft top Jeeps also are available with full doors, thus, the confusion.

Berkeley had a lot of crime, even in the nice areas. We had 3 cars stolen from our driveway in the berkeley hills while i was at school there. Just be glad they only got your door and not the entire jeep! (they got my jeep down here in san diego )

Anyone got any advice of where to look for replacements apart from ebay, craigslist or pick and pull?

Jeep dealership says that they have been discontinued

How can they discontinue parts for a 4 year old vehicle? That is just stupid. I think your dealer doesn't know what he's talking about... But you should be able to find some somewhere... Your insurance should be able to help you.

My jeep is year 99 and my insurance is only 3rd party...im bang out of luck. Even if I was covered I probably wouldn't claim as no doubt they'd hike my premium again.

Im thinking of just going with the black plastic bestop half doors and maybe painting them. If anyone has any experience of painting these types of doors let me know, thanks

Half doors are the same from 97-06... So any halfs you find from those years will fit. The striker will probably have to be adjusted, but they're all the same doors.

I use these. Obviously you can still steal the doors if you really want to, but they are a pretty good deterent.

You do know, right, that by locking your doors you'll make it that much harder for someone to steal? Soft tops are easy to break into, that's a fact. But by making a thief stand next to your Jeep for even 15 seconds longer may be the deciding factor on whether your Jeep gets burgled or not. Thieves want to spend the MINIMUM amount of time in the open, next to their mark. By locking the doors, it certainly doesn't make them immune to being stolen, it just makes them a bit harder to steal, therefore there's a better chance of your Jeep being passed on for another Jeep. Hindsight is always 20-20, of course. Now you know. I lock my Jeep ALL THE TIME the doors are on it. Even when it's in my garage, it's locked. The ONLY time my doors aren't locked is when they're sitting on my garage floor with my soft top.

$29.99 for 4 common allen head nuts!!

The allen wrench should AT LEAST be gold plated!!

Yep,
Lock my doors ALL the time too, Even in garage. If some one is going to steal anything of mine, I make it as hard as possible too. OP didn't say if the doors were locked or not, even though that doesn't make a whole lot of difference.

^ I don't believe they are common Allen head nuts that's what makes them hard to steal you need the special wrench that comes with them.

We had a lot of problems with CJ jeep stuff disappearing from our shop that was there for repair back in the late seventies and early eighties. Had a hood, complete soft top, doors and tires over that time. Haven't had a problem since and we always have a jeep or two around for repair.

Sorry to hear about your theft. I wish it were legal rig one's vehicle with Claymore mines. That would deter vehicle theft pretty quickly.

It's interesting I came across this post though right after just looking at the door security hardware in Quadratec last night (wondering if I needed it.) Think I might pick it up now.
