Soft top help.

Whats the difference in the 97-02 and 03-06 soft tops ?
Im looking at the Quadratec replacement tops and want the Black diamond but its only offered for the 03-06 model years. Will it fit on the older 97-02 models ?

No difference at all except when i got mine i had to keep the bar from the old rear window to put into the new top. Everything should fit.

I'm running a 03-06 softtop on my '97 (don't know what brand it is) and have no problems.

Could be wrong but I'm guessing people MAY have a problem going the other way - putting an older top on a 03-06 TJ - because of the thicker roll-bar padding that was used after 03.

The latches on the header bar are a little narrower on the 03-06 but I don't know if there is any major differences in the fabric. Window zippers have the pulls located differently but that shouldn't matter if you're replacing the entire thing.

I have an '02 and bought a '06 top at a yard sale for $100. The only problem I had was the top seems to be slightly larger, it doesn't fit as tight as the original top. The side windows fit loose and would pop out at the bottom sometimes when the winds kicked up. My solution was simple, duct tape.

97-02, 03-06 colors, fabric weights, patters and side window zipper orientation changed. If you are buying replacement fabric or an entire frame and fabric any 97-06 will fit. Many have swapped years. I have a 03 TJ with a 01 top (frame/fabric). I later replaced the fabric with 04. All fits. I have heard of header latches being different but have not personally seen any post stating what ones were different. It may have been very early 97's. Again I have a 01 frame on my 03/

2003 TJ, 33" BFG AT, 2" BL, 2" BDS spring lift, Truck Lite headlights, Homemade sunrider top.
