Soft-top is "frying bacon"?!?!

Now that it is cooler, my top sounds as though it is frying bacon when I get up to and above 45 mph??? It sounds like it coming from the passenger side... I have looked on top and underneath and I can't figure it out. If I push up on it, the popping and cracking sounds stop.

Anyone else had this issue? What did you do to stop it??

I recognize my soft top is going to make some noise... jeeps do that, but this is a different sound.

Thoughts?

AND no, I am not !!

If everything it tucked in and the velcro together, then it's typically of the soft top road noise... all part of owning a Jeep

My top is really loose, the straps that hold it to the center bar ripped and the windows bang on the side rails at high speeds, I just tune it out and count the day's until I can take it off....

best way to stop the soft top noise, or most other noises that you hear in a jeep for that matter...... louder stereo

I agree 200%, everyday you hear something new and everyday I crank the radio and smile.

Listen to playboy radio "afternoon advice" on sirius you will forget all about your soft top

Soft top frying bacon - I thought at first this would be some neat trick involving really hot weather and a black top left in the parking lot too long.

Try to locate the sound - get a kid with good ears to sit in the back maybe? It's most likely a strap that's humming or a wind turbulence noise. If you cna pinpoint it, you can probably do something to remove it. Another way to pinpoint sounds: try temporary "fixes" to see if it has an impact. Shove a rag in between the bar and top. Open a window, etc.

I have a "permanent" winter glove stuffed between my back window and the bar. It stops the window from banging and if I ever get cold I have a glove

it's a Jeep thing....

I suspect that a lot of us have "temporary" fixes that we've never bothered to get back to solving in a better way. Like the bathroom here at work:

That is all the JEEP is missing...the ability to fry bacon. That would be awesome.

Sometimes the velcro that wraps around the horizontal pole just behind your head gets a little loose. that'll make a frying bacon sound. Just un-velcro it and re-velcro it a little tighter. that fixed it for me.
