Soft Top Leak

I have a 97 TJ with a Best Top. I moved to Wa state in Dec from Ca. It tends to rain a little more up here in the great north west. I have noticed that on the rear passenger side leaks when it rains. There are no holes or tears in the top. My guess is that its leaking where the top section is sewn to the back section where the support bar runs across the back above the rear window. You can see water drops on the passenger side bar (soft top hardware not roll bar) that runs next to the window. It drips at the bottom of the curve and onto the rear fender well next to the seat.

Question is does..... do any of you know of a quick fix for this? I don't know the exact spot because there is no obvious hole or tear. I think it just comes from where the fabric is threaded together. I don't want to spend the money on a new top just yet.

If it's some seams coming apart, or degrading, then I'd try some cheap tent repair type stuff that comes in a kit at pretty much any department store with a sporting goods section. That's the quick/cheap fix... otherwise you'd need to get it redone by an upholstery or buy a new top.

Mine was doing the same back at the beginning of the fall; I had some of the black permatex RTV laying around, so I spread that over the seams with my finger and it hasn't leaked since. If you need to buy some RTV, I know they have some that is made for high stress situations, which may even work better. But like I said, mine has held fine.

im assuming you put it on the inside of the top? It was unnoticeable from the outside?
