Exclamation Soft Top noise

Hello all,
I'm new here, and kinda new to Jeeps. My sister bought a new '06 wrangler. It didn't give her the fuel milage she wanted, so she sold it to my family, this year, so I can drive it when i turn 16 . I have two questions about it.

1. The soft top is VERY loud when driving over 45 mph. I KNOW its not put up wrong because it did this ever since it drove away from the dealership. The top right above the front seats just seems to vibrate.... what do you think I should do?

2. It has those "fuel Saver" michillen (i know i didn't spell that right) tires.... they need to go! The jeep is all stock, and i was wondering how big of a tire i can get on it? i'd like to keep the 15" rims if possible... WHat all do you guys use? and will it fit stock? I don't want to pay for a lift kit cause i want to save to buy a nice truck .

Thanks in advance!

I don't know if this matters for the tires but...
Its an 06 with a 4 liter and manual transmission (6 speed)

Congrats bud..

31's will fit a stock Tj

As far as the top goes, get used to it, it's a jeep
There is a bar that you can buy that puts tension on the top to help make it quieter.
The WF classifieds and CL are awesome for finding jeep parts, look there first.

you may be able to remove all the screws on the front of the top, roll the edge over again to make it tighter

Welcome to the Jeep family. Once you start driving it regularly, you'll love it! Heck, you might even change your mind about saving for a truck.

When it gets colder out the top will tighten up and be less noisey. mines more noisey in summer cause its so loose but I never notice since I dont keep it on

I do love the jeep! GoldenSahara00, the top was down every day (except when we had rain, but thtat didn't happen in PA!).
What all tires do you recommend? I don't plan to do a whole lot of trail/mud riding, but they need to be a good all around tire, I want them to be able to handle the snow and rain without too many problems.
Also, what about the Speedometer if i got 31"?

Duratrac go through the sites vendors.
I changed the speedo gear In my 01 and there was not much of a difference.

You can try things to cut down on the noise, but you'll never get rid of it completely. The Jeep isn't the most aerodynamically sophisticated vehicle ever designed.

But - the good news is that eventually, you won't even notice it.

If your top is looking a little weathered, get some Aerospace 303 Protectant....that stuff does wonders for your soft top and even your fender flares if they aren't too far gone.

i completely forget my soft top is noisy until somebody points it out again. you get used to it trust me.

i would stay with 31 x 10.50 for a stock jeep. there are all kinds of good choices for snow and rain and not much off roading. keeping the 15" wheel is a good idea too because tires will be cheaper.
