Soft Top Problems

Hey

i got a Soft top recently and it seems like theres something missing. i dont know what the back part connects to. i looked on online and saw that it connects to the back side of the roll bar. but i dont have "thing" sticking out of the jeep. would that make my life easier when putting those pieces on since it takes like 15 minutes to put on the soft top. is there a certain way on how to put the soft top on?

thanks any help appreciated

Sounds like your missing the bow brackets and pivot knuckles. The brackets bolt to the back side of the roll cage just behind the front seats and the pivot knuckles are attached to the brackets. When you put on the soft top the rear soft top frame attaches to the pivot knuckles which allow the top to pivot up and down when you raise/lower the top. They are also what actually hold the soft top onto the jeep at the back. Without these parts you cannot use the soft top. The pivot knuckles are actually quite expensive so get the brackets and knuckles through an aftermarket company if you can. These are what your missing.http://www.quadratec.com/products/11132_9101.htm

What model year is your TJ? Thought I read somewhere that early model TJs, maybe '97-'03, don't have the cage mounts. If that is true, did you purchases or receive the right top? Bestop makes one that doesn't attach to cage, I think.
