Soft top to hard top (newbie)

Im sure this topic has been discussed a thousand times but i need some info from some guys with more jeep experience.

Ive been thinking about getting rid of the soft top and replacing it with a hard top. I know I would need full doors but is there anything else I would need to mount the hard top? Also, around how much would all this cost? Any info would help me out a lot. My Jeep is an 05 with a small 2" lift on 31's.

I don't know about the TJ, but when I had an 07 JK w/soft top I had it priced out at around $2,400 through the dealer. You'll need a wiring harness for the wiper/defroster and a new turn signal stalk if you want stock switches. And the doors, of course.

As it's much easier to go to a soft top from a hard top, this time around I bought it with the hard top and added a (yet to be delivered) Bestop soft top.

You may be able to find a hard top for sale by someone, but I think you'd still need to get the wiring harness. Someone may know of a DIY workaround, though. Good luck!

You can usually pick up a good used hard top for less than a thousand. You do not need new doors at all, you might benefit by picking up some hard uppers w/slider windows though. As for wiring that depends on what the top has to offer, you can order a wiring harness online.

You don't need full doors to run a hard top.
