soft top troubles, what am I missing?

We finally got the hard top off and the soft top on, but there seems to be some missing panels or something.

why do I have this big gap? The soft top so far has not shown much advantage over the hard top so far (pain to put on, windows visibility are poor, back window needs to be zipped out to get full access to rear cargo, ect...)

with these gaps its one too many problems for me to get over.
what do I need here?

Thanks

You are missing the door 'corner' panels. They are plastic, stud goes into a hole on the corner of the tub rail, hinged so that it goes up and over your roll bar-and there's a screw hole that you screw the rail down into towards the front. Get these and your top will be 'tight' and ready to keep out the rain.
For getting into the rear seat from the back-if you have the double zipper you can unzip up to the corners, pop the 'bar', and roll the window UP to get it out of the way. If you have the single zipper, just unzip it, and roll the window up (without detaching it) and tuck it behind the tailgate-nice place for it right there behind the seat.

150 bucks....dang. Maybe this soft top thing isn't for me.
Id really like to sell both my tops and get a 2 piece hard top that has the panel above the driver come off. that would be perfect. lol

You should be able to do better than that. The normal going price is around 100.00. There are on ebay all the time.

I find it funny that used soft tops don't go for much more then 200 bucks but the door surrounds with bolts go for 100-150

I really want to give the soft top a chance, polish up the windows, get it all figured out so i can go topless real easily. but this is just quite the speed bump.

i bid on a set and after shipping its going to cost 110 bucks assuming no one else bids. Jeeps are just so costly LOL. gotta pay to play
i learned even if i want to go topless with doors its hard with no surrounds because the doors rattle constantly on bumps. plus the soft top (even with the gaps i showed) was pretty quiet up to 70MPH.

You really want to get a set on there. Not only are they a place to secure the soft top. If you run full doors without the surround you take a chance at cracking the window frame every time you slam the door shut. The surround stops the top of the window frame from flexing in when the door gets shut.

Also very few soft tops are ever sold with all the gear. Usually its just the top and the frame. The other things you would need are door surrounds and a window bar for the tail gate. Also if your jeep didnt come with a soft top from the factory you will need the clips the the rear window bar connects to.

Yes, i learned Im going to want surrounds if Im ever running full doors topless.
I have the top on the jeep and ready to go, fits great (had 3 of the 4 pins, used a bolt for the 4th as a temporary fix). all i need to get is the door surrounds.

hopefully Ill get them pretty cheap.

Do you have the bar for the rear window and the latches that mount on the jeep to hold it?

I believe so, you talking about where the bottom of the rear window seals to the jeep.
the bar along the window is there and seal right up to the 2 black mounts on the jeep.
