Someone with a 98 to look under their hood?

I'm hoping someone with a 98 TJ to take a quick look under their hood for me. I have a 98 TJ and I'm a bit perplexed. Attached to the back end of the Power Distribution Center is a black plastic cap which, I believe, are grounding cables. One of these cables (B+) is attached to the back of the generator. Where it attaches to the generator it's in a sort of protective metal shroud. Anyway, on my Jeep the cable is red which doesn't make sense if it is, in fact, a ground cable. Both ends of the cable on my Jeep have blue green gunk on them which makes me think that maybe the cable is bad. I'm also hoping that replacing this cable will stop the battery from going dead when I don't drive every week. Thanks for looking.

Cheers, John

That is oxidization. Have you tryied cleaning it so as to provide a good contact?

I did a quick clean with a brass brush and a baking soda/warm water solution. I was losing the daylight so there wasn't time to remove the cable and clean everything properly. I'm curious why only that cable would have the blue/green gunk on it.
