something rattling. Feels like its right under my feet

I have a rattle that feels like its right under my feet. Ive been all over underneath and don't see anything loose. I had a bad sway bar link a while back that i fixed but that felt like it was from the front anyway.

Here's a link to a write up on a common TJ problem that you can easily check and it's cheap to fix.

I just noticed this the other day on mine... and hadn't crawled under to see what it was yet. Glad I read this.

I first started hearing a rattle that progressively got worse. I was able to replicate the same noise when I crawled underneath and started shaking everything and finding out it was the main torque shaft as pictured in the write up that was the suspect. I sprayed it with Teflon spray and the noise was gone, but only for a day so I went to the dealer and ordered the kit. It was less than $30 and relatively easy to install. I'll be more than happy to help you all with questions about the install.

I guess it's one of those problems they knew about but didn't bother to correct. Not all of them make a noise... Mine is a 99 and it was very loud, my Dad has a 2000 that needs the repair kit but it doesn't make a sound, unless I grab it and shake it. There is no more boot left on it either. So I would bet there are a ton of owners riding around with the same problem but completely unaware of it.

Cool, I still don't miss the rattle. I bet that was easy with the skid plate out of the way!

i was alone so pulling the whole bracket from the top wasn't an option. I have the relocator on so it was two bolts to pull it off. Only took a few minutes...I'm so glad the rattle is gone ...it was driving me crazy
