Sound Bar woes

I just ordered myself a sound bar for my 97 and upon arrival, I discovered that my 6.5" speakers are too big for the holes. I have heard of people trimming their sound bars to get these to fit, but I have no idea how to go about doing that. Any advice would be appreciated

It took a box cutter and a drill to get mine to fit... Also had to install it backwards! Just play with it, you'll fond something that works! Sorry about the bad lighting, if you want I'll send better pics after sun up tomorrow.

Use a thin spacer ring to space the speakers out a tad.

How did you use the drill? And what kind of bit did you use?

The new sound bar didn't mount in the same holes that my stock speakers did. I drilled four holes (two each side) with a Dewalt steel bit. I don't remember what size, but I went just a ball hair smaller than the hardware I was going to use to mount it. The sound bar came out of a YJ that I was cannibalizing at the time so if I had installed it "properly" in ky TJ it would have been an awkward fit and look kind of silly. That's why I say I mounted it backwards. Fun project!

But did you have to cut the holes bigger so the speakers would fit?
