sound pods

ok so I'm confused about the difference between "sound pods" and a "sound bar." from what I understand the only difference is that the bar runs all the way across and connects to the outer roll bars on the passenger and driver side, and sound pods just connect to the corner areas on the roll bar (and more wiring is involved) did I miss anything? which is easier to mount, better for space, better all around? help

I had a sport with only 2 speakers, and added a bar, and now my Rubicon has the pods.

Honestly, if it was me, id take the time and wire the pods. I think they look cleaner, better dome lights, sounds better (I think the rubicons system is just better period though), and looks cleaner (I know I listed it twice).

I never got used to how the bar looked, and the pods I actually enjoy. I seems more open with the top down with the gap, and my passengers dont hit their heads as often. Its much easier for taller people to get in the back, and they can stand up with the pods. Its much harder with the bar (not that I condone that sorta thing)

The only problem I have seen so far is bikini tops. You have to get one enginered for that bolt hole in the pod since you cant go inbetween it like a bar.

I like the fact that there are speakers on the sport hoop in the TJ. My 99 has the actual sound bar, but when I replace the cage I'm going to build/have built a cage that will let me still hang the pods. I don't plan on wiring them any differently. I'll just push the extra wire thru the tube.

I think it was 02 or 03 when they changed to Sound Pods instead of the Sound Bar.
