Why 6x9's? You can fit a 6.5" speaker in there without much problem.

But that's never the point. A Jeep can take you almost anywhere you might need to go stock, and yet we still lift them...

Wouldn't you have to cut out some of the bar to fit those?

What will you do about screens for the speakers? The factory speakers are covered by the screen in the bar. Will you be able to purchase different ones? The mod sounds interesting which is why I ask.

I'm not big on stereos so I don't care, as long as I can put a CD in and it plays I'm happy.

I got a soundbar designed for 6x9's. Filled it with Polyfill and stuffed 2 Kickers in there.

You can sort of see them here...

Better angle here...

Hey tiger remembered :P What am i saying, of course he did.. look at his sig

I made my own sound bar that fits 2 6x9s and mounted the stock bar in front.
I have 2 sound bars now and i'd say its great. Keep in mind though you will never get the sound of a sub so i'd say just get 2 6.5s and get some nice shelf looking speakers that you can mount ON the dash and you should be good. If you want bass just get a sub and dont bother with making a 6x9s box. I have 2 boxes thinking they would make a difference but they both sound the same so.. one is sitting in my closet. Any one wants it.. pm me.. 20 bucks + shipping. 20 bucks is pretty much for the wood i used. The sound bar i'm selling has 3/4" wood instead of the 1/4" in the pictured one.

Check out pics of my setup here though.

I have a soundbar designed for 6x9s as well. i need to use the polyfill on mine as well. For now I have 6x9 Cerwin-Vega's that sound pretty good considering they have been abused for 5 years in three different cars.

What does the polyfill do to improve sound?

It makes it sound a bit deeper and richer. Keep in mind though too much polyfill is also bad. It makes a speaker sound like its put into a bigger box.

Nope, sorry, it installs just like a regular soundbar though.

I bought it already sized for 6x9's. Edgeauto.com (though I'm not sure if they are around any more.

If the 6.5s aren't "cutting" it then you either have the wrong setup or really bad ears. With the short distance away from your head the rear 6.5s are more than enough to throw off your sound stage. I, for one, hate having the sound stage behind me. And that is exactly what you get with larger speakers in the rear.

If you want a better balanced setup then maybe you should look into a 4 channel amplifier and some better speakers for the dash. A good set of 5.25 components for the front will change your mind about what you want in the sound bar. Move the tweet up on top of the dash on the window A pillar and marvel at the better sound you get. It will "cut" it!
