I am removing the 3 inch body lift that was on the jeep when I bought it
and installing a coil spring spacer. I have 33's and I am thinking about putting 2.5 steel spacers on it and trimming down the body lift to .75 to 1 inch if that is possible. I am assuming you can trim down the body lift and if not can I clear 33's with a 2.5 spacer or do I need to go with a 3 inch spacer. I cannot stand the gaps anymore on the jeep but I dont think a one inch max body lift would be that bad. I am replacing shocks when I put in the spacer lift. The jeep is used for hunting and not any real hardcore off roading. Any advice would be appreciated. If anyone has rigs with similar set ups please post some pics. Btw the jeep is 98 2.5 5 speed
Many here recommend a 3" suspension lift and 1" body lift for 33" tires. I've seen one published references indicate a 2.5 inch suspension lift will fit 33" x 10.5 tires (especially given your intended use.)
I feel your pain. I deleted the previous owners 3" body lift.
I would recommend going with 1.25" body lift and 2" spring spacers. The nice thing about a 1.25" BL is it allows for aftermarket tucked gas tank skids, and even a tummy tuck. That is my set up w 33x12.5x15s. I have also added the Savvy Under Armor (w TC lift).
Don't forget to increase your bump stops to match the spring spacer.

The taller the spring spacer, the more apt it is to cause overcompression of the springs which damages them. 2" is as tall as I'd go for a spacer, I'd gain the other required clearance with a 1" body lift... though I'm of the firm opinion that 3" is not enough for 33" tires for a Jeep that sees anything more challenging than a fire road.

The key to lifting safely is the bumpstops, at least thats all the more complicated it gets with a small lift. All you need is to make sure your bumpstops are extended enough so they hit and compress before your tires hit your fenders. Then your safe. I ran 33s with 3 inch lift in addition to .75 spacers up front. I would hit my fenders slightly offroad. I added a 1.25in BL and I STILL stuff my 33s. So with 5 inches of lift up front I am still stuffing 33s. So think about that if you want to offroad with 33s and 2-3 inch spacers. If you want the best offroad setup I would stay with 31s
