Oh man you guys crack me up I guess I set myself up for that but I do have a spare it was just a question since I see lots of people without them.

I have noticed. You are totally different here than that other place tumble .

You'll have to make your own as my arms are a little short.

6 oz HI punch, 3 oz OJ, 1 oz Malibu Coconut Rum, 1 oz Wray & Nephews Overproof Rum, 1 oz Meyers Dark Rum. Serve with a twist of lime and a dash of bitters over crushed ice.

Okay honestly if you are conserving weight then a plug kit is way easy to accomodate. Andy I'm sure that you either aren't going to have a spare or it's going to be on your trailer and not your rig right?

And Scout, even with the spare tire in the tub I think it's better than having it hanging so far off the back end. The weight is right over the rear axle and should balance the suspension more with the front than it was before.

Good point Jack. I'd like to have a cleaner rear end when I'm wheelin anyway.

It is and this is the closest I have come to it at home. In Jamaica, they just buy some kind of punch in 1 gallon containers and add W&N Overproof and bitters.

I make a gallon at a time . I rarely drink anything adult other than beer but sometimes...

And Hawaiian is the spelling. HI is the abbv. for Hawaii.

So back to topic, I have nothing in the back other than a seat and an insta-trunk, but I think the drawer would be better than a trunk: lower and makes the stuff more easily accessible (esp with tire on top), but then prolly has less storage as well

I will definitely have a full size complete spare with beadlock but it will stay locked up on the trailer. I just couldn't find a good way to run a 42" tire on board.

I believe the "balanced" term to be a little bit hit or miss. I believe you should set up your springs for the weight they will be carrying. Moving the spare from the end of the jeep to 3/4 position will lighten the effective load on the rear coils. Make much of a difference to most people? Hardly.

Ah yes this is true. However that doesn't mean that the effective weight of the rear tire hanging off the backend is a good thing. Also not factored into the suspension design is larger than a 31" tire to be hanging off the back end nor were aftermarket tire carriers factored into Jeeps thinking on this. So are there differences? Yeah, but are they so noticeable that one would be able to tell the difference in the suspension un-load on any given climb? I don't think so.

I was leaning more towards the aftermarket side of jeep suspensions. It is very obvious to me that jeep didn't really get it right from the factory. Else they would have stuffed a big chevy motor in them and big chevy axles and blah blah blah. I do believe there can be a noticeable difference of a properly set up suspension versus one that isn't. Moving equipment around and changing the weight distribution will widely determine which spring rates you should run.

The proper spring setup for any vehicle is important. Take my 2500HD for example. Thing gives marginal ride at best driving around town. Load up the back or toss the trailer on it and the thing rides like a dream. Same thing happens with wranglers. You can design your suspension to handle the weight added by after market goodies like the bigger tires and tire carriers or lack there of.

The biggest selling point of this opinion is taking a stock wrangler with absolutely nothing done to it. Add the proper OME coils and shocks and it will ride better than stock. Every time.
