Spare tire or no spar tire

Looking to see what your thoughts are on having a spare tire on the back vs having no spare on the back. I know its preference but wanted to see what everyone thought about the looks. I currently have a spare on the back but its not a matching spare so I am thinking about taking it off.

I carry a full size spare.... I'm glad that I do.:happyyes:

Doesn't match. Don't care.

You can't just patch that? :lmao:

Mine matches the outside diameter of the tire only. Different size (16" vs a 15" on the spare) and style (Moab vs a Canyon on the spare) wheel, different brand (Duratracs vs a Pirelli Scorpion on the spare)...it's just there because if I didn't have one, I know with my luck I'd blow a tire the next day. I'll eventually get a matching tire / wheel, but until then, the mismatched spare stays.

I have 33-12.5-15 MTR'S and my spare is a 33-10.5-15 BFG all terrain I'll probably just hold off until I get 35's and buy all 5

Have 33's and no spare, brought it that way. I do carry a plug kit and air compressor. I don't do any real rock crawling but plenty off road and beach driving.
Mines behind my seat :) I saw this TJ that had a 35" stuffed in the back flat on the floor with a like wood carpet going over it like it was a trunk and he had a roof rack small one mounted on top to hold his gear. Was really clean looking I am thinking about just removing my back seat out do the lj and making a tire mount bracket inside for a 35" tire that I can put a quick release on it and just roll the tire out if needed to be replaced. I will post some pictures on a new thread and show it off its going to look really clean and safe .

imo a wrangler just does not look complete w/o a matching spare bolted to the back of the tub....and, it is a smart idea to have it that way too.

I only take mine when I go out wheeling. Around town never, have my patch kit and air and have never been let down.

Gravity took mine off with the carrier, leaving the bumper as the spindle broke, off roading.

Having a tire saved me from any dammage when a car hit me from the rear. His hood was bent and grill no bueno after kissing my trailer hitch. My spare was marked up a little but the body A-OK.

Another time we were climbing a hill and I switched with my wife so she could drive. She tried to put it in gear but had it neutral and let off the brake. There was a 4 wheel of road vehicle (Raptor I think) behind us, we rolled back and I felt a bump. We stopped, got out to look...... and the spare tire saved the day. No dammage to either vehicle.

I also tore a tire up which broke its bead while low on pressure off road. The spare allowed me to drive home that day too.

I do have to say though, I get much better gas milage W/O the tire in the rear.

Fought with the same dilemma myself. Around town with an aggressive tread tire I'd say no. Maybe just a compressor and plug kit.
Off road would be a big mistake to not have a spare. Sharp rocks can tear sidewalls and I've even seen a piece rebar sticking out of the dirt more than once.
It would be nice not to lug around one but I gave in and still carry a spare all the time.

I always carry a matching spare. But I like the look of a clean tailgate and don't want to worry about getting caught on anything so my spare is mounted inside my Jeep.

I like the spare tire on the back. Makes a Jeep look better to me.
