Spare Tire Question

Hey Everyone,

I just upgraded to all new tires. 31 X 10.5 and the rear spare tire sits ok on the mount. Should I put somesort of spacer on their as well to ensure the bolts get on their all the way?

Is there a way to adjust the cyclops eye up a little more so I can get my winter tire cover on there as well? Is there anything else I should know about with the spare tire regarding this larger tire size?

The 3rd brakelight is held on by 3-4 bolts. Remove one of them, go buy a matching thread size bolt that is a half-inch longer. You can then either insert a 1/2" spacer around each bolt between the spare tire bracket and 3rd brake light, or stack 1/2" of washers around each bolt. Hardware stores (small hardware stores are better for this kind of part than Home Depot, Lowes, etc.) carry tubular spacers that will be appropriate. Cut to length. Raising the 3rd brake light 1/2" compensates completely for a 1" taller tire. Or just raise it 1" in case you plan to go to 32" tire later.

When you have a choice, buy American.

Put (stack) some spacers under the 3rd brakelight bolts. I raised mine about 1 1/4" to almost clear my 33" spare. Takes about 10 minutes to do. 1/2" socket with extension and youll be on your way.
You'll be in a great mood all day because you'll be slapping all your troubles away.

What if I just put a 1/2 in wheel spacer on the back spare to bring it out the extra room I need? Would that work?

Also, capital idea on using the longer bolt and washers to bring up the cyclops eye.
