spare tire relocation

have an '05 rubicon, put a new rear[aftermarket] bumper and had to get a oversize tire relocation kit. it just moves the tire away from the original spot about two inches . th etire no longer comes in contact with the little tire bumpers . is that going to stress the metal?

If your keep the same size tire all should be fine. I ran an extender on my 00, with a 33" tire and after about a year the factory tire mount gave out, cracked along the bottom weld as i recall. But the door and the brackets where fine.

Same here. I run 33's and my carrier craked in 5 places. I made some braces for it and welded up the cracks about 2 weeks ago and not problems yet. Over time it will twist your gate/hinges. I am saving money to buy an aftermarket tire carrier and bumper now.
