Just wondering what the best brand of spark plugs and how many I should purchase for my 2004 wrangler X 4.0.

Quadratec has e3 diamond fire spark plugs for 6.99$ each, should I order those? If so how many? Or what brand is best to help get my mileage back up from 10.5mpg.....

Don't even consider the e3 plugs, those are nothing more than a gimmick spark plug whose quality isn't up to what you could get from other companies for less $$$. Not to mention the 2001 and newer 4.0L engines with the DIS (distributorless ignition system) ignition system are very fussy about the type of spark plugs it runs and I doubt your engine would be happy with the e3 for very long.

Three very good plugs you can go with that are known to work well with the newer DIS style 4.0L engines include the Autolite APP985 and Champion 7034, both of which are platinum dual-tipped plugs with platinum on both sides of the gap. Single-tipped platinum plugs with platinum on just one side of the gap like the Autolite AP985 or Champion 3034 would not work well. The third very good choice plug would be the newer iridium Autolite XP-985. Any of those three plugs will perform extremely well for 100K miles.

Non-platinum/iridium "conventional" plugs will work ok too but you'll only get 20-25K miles out of them, at the very most, when installed in a DIS type 4.0L engine.

Older non-DIS engines (those that have distributors) are not very fussy about their spark plugs at all. :)
