speaker in console?

I have a 2006 Rubicon. Is there a speaker in the center console between the seats? There's a grill on the driver's side.

Some Jeeps came with a sub in the center console you are speaking about. If you have a console with the slots then it could have been there one once upon a time. The speaker from what I have heard was not very good and was prone to blowing so many people ripped them out. Hope that helps.

I think that your console can still have a grille even if your jeep didn't come with a console speaker. I blew my console speaker and replaced it with a cheap aftermarket and blew that one too - so I upgraded to a much better speaker. It sounds decent now. A factory replacement comes in a "sealed" sleeve with a wiring harness - it is unbelievably expensive (around $200) for a factory replacement.

Honestly, after I blew the 2nd speaker - I thought about just disconnecting it completely. A lot of people have good luck replacing their other speakers (dash and soundbar) with good, sensitive aftermarket replacements and not even worrying about the console speaker.

Yeah if you feel the grille with your hand while music is on you'll be able to tell. I think the stock sub is tasteful, not to overpowering, just enough to let you hear the bass line. I don't listen super loud, hopefully it never blows. I think it was included on the premium audio package with the soundbar and stuff.

I have a 97 with no sub, no grills in the center console, but I do have the factory sound bar. I want a sub there. Anyone have at least the box for the sub for sale? I see posts about replacing the sub with aftermarket. I just put a Sony HD radio and Polk speakers in my Jeep yesterday. Sounds good. But needs just a bit more base.

Thanks.

You are better off adding a small powered sub. I have the Kenwood SW-1 Kenwood - KSC-SW1 It fits under the rear seat or can fit under the front seat (but the thumping under the butt gets anoying) It looks like the SW-1 is discontinued. There is a SW-10 now but I don't know if the dimensions are the same. There are also other small powered sub out there.
