5.25" is the adapter size speaker. Really its up to you if its forth it.

5.25" is also the sound bar, but you can easily fit a 6.5" in there.

Does a 6.5 really help?

I wouldn't spend much money on the speakers. You will never get the bass you want from a 6" speaker in a wrangler... maybe you might get something good if you find 6" subs but then you would still need rear speakers. Anyhow the main reason why i would use 5.25 instead of the stock 4x6s is there a LOTs of more 5.25s to choose from in the store than there are 4x6s. I'll see if i can find my blueprint with the sizes needed to cut the bracket to fit 5.25s in the 4x6 slots.

BTW - If you get a component system (and there are 5.25" ones) you'll definitely hear the bass better, but just not feel it, thats what a sub is for. Get a component system and mount the 5.25" in the dash and mount the tweeters on top of the dash.
