Speakers in 97 tj

I'm gonna put new speakers in my dash but was wondering what all sizes are possible?
And best brands mainly for voice but can handle some good bass as well
Gotta risk it to get the biscuit

The stock size is 4x6, but if you look on crutchfield, they suggest a 4" or if you buy a bigger bracket and don't mind trimming a little bit, you can stuff a 5.25" in there. Nothing that small is going to give you good bass imo.

When I replaced my speakers, I put in new 4x6s, but if I did it again I would go the 5.25 route.

Read this:
Car Speakers FAQ
It should cover most of your questions on what is a good speaker, or what to look for.

I have something like these in my jeep (or this price range at least, I don't remember what exactly is in there): Alpine SPS-406 Type-S 4"x6" 2-way car speakers at Crutchfield.com

The mounting bracket for the stock speakers is HUGE, so I had to cut the old molded speakers out and use self tapping screws to hold the new speakers in.

What have we got?
We have one heavily armed Recreational Vehicle

I put 4x6 Polk Audio DXi series speakers in the dash of my 2000. They sound really good for what i want them to do. Not a lot of bass at all. I believe any aftermarket speaker, even in the 4x6 size needs a bracket because the mounting holes are different than the stock speakers. I bought a metra mounting bracket set for around $15 @ best buy, where i got the head unit and speakers. At the advice of the tech, i wrapped the bracket in duct tape before securing the speakers to it, to avoid rattling. It did the trick apparently! Good luck.
