I have been in law enforcement since 1999 and have never heard of a state that must allow this 10mph as you describe. Granted I am not familiar with all states laws but I interact with officers from many states. I also did a google search on the subject and found nothing of the such. This sounds like some urban legend, if you have a link I would be interested to read it.
I can also tell you for what it is worth that in Indiana you would not get out of a ticket for having your speedo fixed after the fact. Also as somebody else mentioned the speedo probably wasn't off by more then a few miles per hour so your speedometer likely showed that you were speeding at the time of the ticket.

i got a ticket for doing 29 in a 30 a few years ago.

in all actuality, it was a school zone and i must have missed the flashing yellow lights. limit was 30 normally, but 20 during school. cop didn't even consider letting me off with a warning. it's my one speeding ticket in the last 8 years. wanker.

After the fact - kinda like giving back the money after they caught you for robbing the bank at gunpoint.

"Oh please officer - I was only kidding."

I originally posted that, and I happened to be in Indiana when I got/fought that speeding ticket on grounds of having a faulty speedo (because of oversize tires.) If you remember, I lost. Badly.

Off. "Flyin Lowe," you don't happen to patrol in Huntington do you? Might have been you who popped me in my 442

I stated out in that area but only worked in Huntington while I was training. That would have been July of 1999. I lived in Bluffton and worked there until late 2000 before moving back home to Wayne County. I had a friend who had an old 442 so I would have remembered that.

No offense, but if you missed flashing yellow lights, you deserved a ticket (as would I in the same situation).

Stoplights are red and don't flash. Please don't miss any of those

What do you think would have happened if Prez Bush said "Oops, sorry Saddam, we had bad intel."

He was speeding - no excuse!

The cops can't nolle pros the ticket. The judge can, not the cops. Once the cop writes it, it's written. At least here in Maryland. UR

Very sorry, i have been so confused with this whole thread, everyone is bashing me

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! .ok people i understand that i was speeding yes it was my fault and yes i deserve a ticket blah blah blah i understand!!!! please stop telling me i was speeding and to get over it...if i thought that everyone would say that i wouldnt have posted anything..this forum is very helpful to me and i have a learned a lot from it and have even made friends through the forum..went wheeling with 3 members on here in my local area this week and had a blast..although the forum is helpful and friendly i NEVER EVER expected to get bashed like this...all i asked was how much it costs to get it fixed..you people dont know what the laws are like where i live..unless you all live in Covington Virginia and know who the judge is then please dont comment on how i wont get out of the ticket..The officer told me it would be reduced to a faulty equipment ticket if not droppped entirely..i have had several friends in the area have their tickets dropped by fixing their speedometer (granted not if they were doing like 80 in a 45..but in my case, the cop DID tell me that he would not have pulled me over if i was doing 35mph and i was doing 36.. he also said that if the speedo was off by only ONE MPH then it would count..and yes it was off by 1 mph with my tires..this week i put on 31's and its off 2-3 and yes i have went by several of the things on the road that tell you your speed and the past 6 or 7 times ive went by it read the same thing...............soooooooooooo please people dont be so negative.. i posted this thread to get some help and insight from the very friendly people on here..not to get bashed for a mistake that i made...im not sure why you would want to read my thread knowing that i asked a question in it and not even come close to giving me any information that would answer my question
