speedometer problem

when im driving my speedometer will be working fine and then all of a sudden it wont work. if i hit the top of the dash it will come back on. it doesnt happen all the time just every once in a while. any suggestions would be great thanks

you can "calibrate"(?) and check gauges by holding the odometer trip counter button and than turn your jeep on and let go of the button and the gauges go through a bunch sequences. of that doesnt work check the speedometer gear.

might be a bad ground...had that happen before on another car i had. You can make a ground pretty easy, small 16 guage wire, two crimp on terminals. Unless it is all plastic...

is it just speedo or do all your gauges quit? if they all quit and the odometer says "no bus'' its the plug on back of the cluster not making good contact. search it theres alot of info on here about this issue.
