Splined lug nuts

I have 8 spline anti-theft lug nuts and lost the matching socket. Does anyone have any idea where I begin trying to replace the socket. It may be a McGard, but I'm not sure.

I had the round ones with the key in the end of the nut. I bought a socket just large enough to drive on with a single jack and removed the locks that way. I did not replace the locks because I figured I'd loose the key again.

You could always try finding a socket from the hardware store that might fight them & try that.

Check McGuard or Gorillas site to see if they offer key sockets for them to try matching it up that might help more.

They're not hard to remove even without the key. I'd first try a big set of visegrips to unscrew. If that doesn't do it, pound a 12 point socket over the lug nut that is just barely big enough to fit over it when pounded onto it and then use a ratchet wrench to remove it. To me, locking lugnuts are more of a PITA than they are worth. Any determined thief can get them off in seconds.

Find a tow truck driver and pay him a couple of bucks and he'll take them off for you. They always carry all the different kind of lug nut lock keys.
